Buoyant's Conduit Service Mesh Officially Becomes Linkerd 2
Conduit officially merged into the Linkerd project and released as Linkerd 2 (Beta). In addition to regular Linkerd 1 releases, Linkerd 2 (beta) artifacts are now being generated. Linkerd 2 code is fully open sourced and available on their GitHub repository. Conduit 0.5.0 is its last official release of the Conduit project.

HashiCorp Releases Consul 1.2 with "Consul Connect" Service Mesh Solution
HashiCorp has released Consul 1.2.1, the latest version of their highly available and distributed service discovery and key-value store, which also includes a public beta launch of the Consul Connect. Consul Connect provides service-to-service connection authorization and encryption using mutual TLS, and “automatically turns any existing Consul cluster into a service mesh solution.”

Microsoft Releases Azure Service Fabric Mesh as a Public Preview
Service Fabric now has a relative in the cloud – Azure Service Fabric Mesh, a fully managed service in Azure that will enable developers to deploy and operate containerised applications. This service is now publicly in preview after its initial private preview debut during Build 2018 last May.

StackPointCloud Enhances Istio and Kubernetes Functionality in Cloud-Native Management Platform
StackPointCloud, provider of a cloud-native management platform for Istio and Kubernetes, has added a series of tools to help enterprises deploy and use microservices and containers. Users can now manage Istio service meshes across Kubernetes clusters using their preferred cloud providers and StackPointCloud has partnered with Packet Host to help customers use ARM with their Kubernetes clusters.

Cilium 1.0.0-rc4 Released: Transparently Secure Container Network Connectivity Utilising Linux BPF
Cilium is open source software for transparently securing the network connectivity. Cilium 1.0.0-rc4 has recently been released, which includes: the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF)-hosted Envoy configured as the default HTTP/gRPC proxy; the addition of a simple health overview for connectivity and other errors; and an improved scalable kvstore interaction layer.

Buoyant Releases New Kubernetes Service Mesh "Conduit" Written in Rust and Golang
Buoyant, the company behind the JVM-powered Linkerd service mesh, has released “Conduit”, a new experimental Kubernetes-specific service mesh, with the proxy data plane written in Rust and the control plane written in Golang. Conduit is not Linkerd 2.0. -- and targets a different use case -- and Buoyant has stated that they will continue to develop and provide commercial support for Linkerd.
