Google Works on a Protocol Intended to Replace HTTP

Jetty 7.0 released
The release of Jetty 7.0 was announced today and is available for download from its new home at Eclipse.org as well as via the maven repository. This version represents an evolution of Jetty 6.0, and represents a significant reorganisation of the codebase as well as numerous performance improvements. In addition, the Continuation API is now portable across different servers.

MuleSoft Releases Tomcat-based Tcat Server and iBeans Integration Framework

Silverlight 4 and IIS Media Services 3 Promise Superior Content Delivery
Microsoft has announced the upcoming release of a new generation of IIS Media Services, v. 3.0, and it is going to hold an early preview of Silverlight 4 features during International Broadcasting Conference 2009 (IBC) on September 11-15th. Main features are: interactive, high-definition streaming of video content, native multicast and offline DRM support.

Intalio acquires Webtide, makers of Jetty
Intalio, Inc., the Enterprise Cloud Company, announced the acquisition of Webtide, the team behind the Jetty open source Java application server. Jetty is currently used on millions of web servers, and powers products such as Cisco SESM, Google AppEngine, Google GWT, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli NetView, Oracle WebLogic Business Connect, Sybase EAServer, and Yahoo! Zimbra.

Rewrite Outbound URLs with IIS 7 and URL Rewrite Module 2.0
The URL Rewrite Module was originally introduced to map incoming, user-friendly URLs to pages written with ASP.NET or PHP. With version 2, the other side is addressed. URLs automatically generated by applications can rewritten before they hit the user’s browser.

Drools 5.0 Supports Workflow and Event Processing
The latest version of Drools, an open source business logic integration platform, supports workflow and event processing. Drools development team recently announced the release of Drools 5.0 final version. The major shift is that Drools 5.0 focus is on a knowledge oriented system rather than just a rules oriented system. The new version has four modules called Guvnor, Expert, Fusion and Flow.
