Waypoint Now Available in Beta on HashiCorp’s Cloud Platform
Waypoint now available in beta on Hashicorp's Cloud Platform (HCP). First released two years ago as an open-source project, Waypoint is a tool to give developers a consistent deployment experience onto platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon ECS. A wide array of plugins provide backend support for deploying to these platforms with a single "waypoint up" command.

CDK for Terraform Improves Performance by Adding Namespaces
HashiCorp released version 0.13 of the CDK for Terraform (CDKTF) with significant improvements to performance. The release introduces a major restructuring of the language by introducing namespaces. The namespace improvement dramatically enhances the performance of synthesizing infrastructure. This release builds upon the 0.12 release which saw CDKTF move into general availability.

HashiCorp Vault Enhances Plugin Framework, Adds New Secrets Engines
HashiCorp has released a number of new features and improved core workflows for Vault, their secrets and identity management platform. The improvements include a new PKCS#11 provider, support for Redis and Amazon ElasticCache as secrets engines, improvements to the Transform secrets engine, and a better user experience for working with plugins.

HashiCorp Enhances Terraform Drift Detection with Continuous Validation
HashiCorp released a number of new features for Terraform including continuous validation and no-code provisioning. Both features are currently in beta for Terraform Cloud Business users. Additional releases include native Open Policy Agent (OPA) support and Azure provider automation.

Amazon EKS Blueprints Streamline Bootstrapping Kubernetes Clusters
AWS has released EKS Blueprints, a collection of infrastructure as code (IaC) modules to simplify configuring and deploying EKS clusters. EKS Blueprints are currently implemented in both HashiCorp Terraform and AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK). The blueprints have support for a number of open-source add-ons including Prometheus, Nginx, and Argo CD.

HashiCorp Vault Improves Eventual Consistency with Server-Side Consistent Tokens
HashiCorp has released Vault 1.10, introducing a number of new features to their secrets and identity management platform. Server-side consistent tokens provide greater control over the eventual consistency model when using performance standby nodes. Authentication can now be performed using the new open source login multi-factor authentication integration.

HashiCorp Moves HCP Packer into GA with New Security Workflows
HashiCorp has moved HCP Packer into full general availability. HCP Packer is their cloud hosted offering of Packer, a machine-image building tool. The release adds a number of new features including improved security workflows, custom metadata, and integration of compliance checks with Terraform Cloud workflows.

HashiCorp Consul-Terraform-Sync Adds Task Creation API and New Integrations
HashiCorp has released version 0.5 of Consul-Terraform-Sync. CTS enables automating common networking tasks by creating Terraform modules that can be run as services are added or removed from Consul. This release adds new secure API endpoints to facilitate modifying existing tasks, new ecosystem integrations, and support for triggering Terraform workflows on Consul key-value changes.

HashiCorp Terraform AWS Provider Introduces Significant Changes to Amazon S3 Bucket Resource
HashiCorp has announced the release of version 4.0 of their Terraform AWS provider. This release introduces significant, breaking changes to the Amazon S3 bucket resource. The release also includes full lifecycle control over default resources, changes to the provider configuration, and improvements to handling plural data sources.

HashiCorp Consul on Amazon ECS Adds Development Kit and Support for High Traffic Loads
HashiCorp has announced the release of version 0.3 of their Consul on Amazon ECS service. The release includes support for additional configuration options, deployment without Terraform, and confirmed support for high traffic loads. They have also released, in partnership with AWS, a AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) to support using Consul on Amazon ECS.

HashiCorp Consul API Gateway Adds TCPRoute Support and Installation via Helm Chart
HashiCorp has moved their Consul API Gateway into beta release. The release adds a number of new features to their Consul Service Mesh ingress solution including support for TCPRoute, installation via Helm Chart, and TLS settings per listener.

HashiCorp Waypoint Adds Triggers and External Data Fetching
HashiCorp has released version 0.7 of Waypoint, their open-source application deployment tool. This release presents a number of redesigns to the user interface, the introduction of scripting and continuous integration lifecycle operations via triggers, external data fetching, and scoping of configurations to specific workspaces.

HashiCorp Boundary 0.7 and Boundary Desktop 1.4 Released with Dynamic Host Catalogs
HashiCorp has released version 0.7 of their Boundary open-source project that automates secure identity-based user access to hosts and services across environments. Boundary Desktop 1.4 has also been released for Mac, Linux, and Windows. Key new features include dynamic host catalogs, plugin support (currently for internal use only), and managed groups and resource filtering in the admin console.

HashiCorp Vault 1.8 brings notable features and improvements to the secrecy and privacy product including Vault Diagnose, integrated-storage autopilot, Key Management secrets engine for AWS, expiration manager improvements, and control-group triggers. Vault helps users to manage secrets and protect sensitive data using UI, CLI, or HTTP API.

HashiCorp Launches Public Beta of HCP Packer
HashiCorp Cloud Platform (HCP) Packer’s new public beta puts the long-standing machine-image building tool in the cloud, and also delivers new features such as release channels and a deeper integration with Terraform. Packer - a tool for building automated machine images which was launched back in 2013 - has been relaunched onto HashiCorp Cloud Platform, with a host of improvements.
