Microsoft is scheduled to conduct a Windows 8 launch event in New York on October 25, 2012 for which invitations are already sent to the media. The event will be held from 10 AM to 3 PM at Pier 57 in Manhattan. However, Windows 8 will be only officially available to the public from October 26, 2012 onwards.
Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO along with top executives is expected to attend the event, which will be followed by a Microsoft Surface reception, where Microsoft is expected to demonstrate the key features of the much awaited tablet.
Microsoft Surface is currently available for pre-order, which Microsoft defines as special limited-quantity pre-order. However, Surface will be shipped to customers only after its official launch on October 26, 2012.
Moreover, several hardware partners are expected to showcase their Windows 8 powered devices. during the Windows 8 launch event, which include laptops, smartphones and tablets. Microsoft is also scheduled to disclose more information on the rollout of upcoming Windows RT devices.
