    Itty Bitty apps last week released (http://revealapp.com/features/#debug) version 1.5 of their iOS layout debugging app Reveal; which features 35 new features and a refreshed user interface.

  • Facebook Enables Native App Development in JavaScript with React Native

    Announced at last week’s React Conf, React Native is a version of the popular React JavaScript library targeted solely at mobile developers. On the surface React Native looks very similar to React, with JavaScript declarations of reactive user interfaces; but behind the scenes React Native interfaces are backed by platform specific native controls rather than DOM elements.

  • Unity Launches Analytics on iOS and Android

    Unity last week announced the launch of Unity Analytics, a service which assists game developers in gaining an understanding into the behaviour of their players. The service is currently in an open beta with support for the iOS and Android platforms only.

  • Xamarin Releases Unified iOS/Mac API with 64-Bit Support

    amarin last week announced version 8.6 of its iOS SDK (Xamarin.iOS), the first non-beta release to include the company's Unified API for iOS and Mac. The Unified API replaces the 32-bit MonoTouch and MonoMac APIs, enabling code re-use across both platforms and adding 64-bit support.

  • Xamarin Encourages Developers to Begin Supporting 64-Bit Architecture on iOS

    Xamarin is encouraging developers to begin adding 64-bit support to their iOS apps. The request comes only two months before Apple’s February deadline for new app submissions to be built against the iOS 8 SDK with support for the 64-bit architecture.

  • Parse Announces Local Datastore for iOS and Crash Reporting Service

    MBaaS (Mobile Backend as a Service) provider Parse recently announced two new additions to its platform, a crash reporting service and support for local data storage on iOS.

  • CocoaPods Hits 1 Millon Downloads

    Orta Therox, a core contributor to the CocoaPods project, last week announced that the project has now topped 1 million downloads. This announcement rounds off a year which has seen significant developments in the project and growth in its user base.

  • Google Releases Android Auto APIs

    Following on from their announcement of Android Auto in June, Google has now published their first APIs for the platform. Available as part of the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) SDK the APIs will allow developers to add a tailored in-car experience to their existing Android applications.

  • Apple Releases SDK for Apple Watch

    Apple last week announced the release of WatchKit, the SDK for its upcoming Apple Watch device. The SDK will allow developers to begin adding watch support to their iOS apps ahead of the device's release in early 2015.
