Laura Cowen is a technical editor and technical content strategist for Java products at IBM, including open source project Open Liberty. She has previously been a usability researcher, a technical writer, a user experience (UX) designer, and a developer advocate. She has a BSc in Experimental Psychology, a Masters in Human—Computer Interaction, and recently completed a PhD in Environmental Psychology. Laura was, for several years, a regular presenter on the popular Ubuntu Podcast, and was a founding organiser of OggCamp, a UK-based community unconference about open source software and open culture. She works at IBM Hursley in Winchester, UK.
